As Old as I Want to Be

Well, I turned the 42 today. I of course got all the old jokes and the birthday cards with the geriatric edge. But the funny thing is, I don't feel as old as I am suppose to be.

My body still moves around pretty good, and all the joints are in place. My biggest challenge is my weight. It there is one thing I wish I could have from 20 years ago it would be my weight (that would be about 100 pounds ago.)

What really helped today was a great lady by the name of Carol Hummel, who brought me a bag of goodies. But in addition to the cake, hot chocolate and candies, I also got a bunch of little toys. Cars, wind up animals, and the like. She saw the child in me. She saw the fun in me. And this is not a close friend that I hang out with all the time, this is just an acquaintance from church. Confession now...I like watching the Disney Channel, because it is fun. I like cartoons, I like playing with toys and games, that my daughter now plays with. My wife and I even took our honeymoon to Disney World. To me if it is young and fun it is worth while.

So give me that child-like entusiasm, I am not ready to retire yet.
